Lumenis IO — The Magnetic Death of Mars: A 4.5-Billion-Year Reconstruction of Planetary Decay
Description
Using the Lumenis IO Earth Engine , this study presents the first full 4.5-billion-year simulation of Mars’s magnetic collapse and atmospheric loss under real-world gravitational, thermal, and solar-wind conditions.
The simulation reproduced Mars’s exact present-day orbit (24.07 km/s), surface pressure (0.006 bar), and mean temperature (210 K) — all without any observational input or pre-fed spacecraft data.
Results indicate that Mars’s habitability ended through a slow, internally governed magnetic collapse, not a catastrophic impact. As the planet’s molten core cooled and convection weakened, the magnetic field decayed, exposing the atmosphere to solar-wind erosion and leading to the permanent loss of surface water.
This work provides the first continuous causal record of Mars’s magnetic death and climatic decay — fully simulated, validated, and recorded within the Lumenis IO Earth Engine framework.
