Description
Acupuncture Anesthesia (AA) is an application of acupuncture innovation in surgical operations, combined with anesthetic techniques, and is a model of integrated Chinese and Western medicine. AA has demonstrated numerous benefits such as pain relief, body system protection, optimized drug dosages, emotional regulation, reduced side effects, and immune modulation. It also shows promise in reducing postoperative cognitive dysfunction, particularly in critical care medicine and the elderly. A wealth of findings has accumulated in physiological study of pain perception and its relationship with nervous system, immunology, and molecular biology.
We introduce the Acupuncture Anesthesia Knowledge Database (AAKD), a rigorously curated resource comprising:
- 17,921 clinical records,
- 29,462 entries on mechanistic studies,
- 143 omics datasets,
- 2,034 peer-reviewed publications.
The database spans 6 species, 1,068 genes, 111 surgical procedures, 227 diseases/symptoms, and 260 acupoints. All content has been expertly curated by domain specialists and subjected to a robust multi-dimensional quality control framework.
