The Promise and the Problem of Stable Nuclear Fuels

Description

This short essay considers whether future nuclear power could use stable or driver-dependent fuels—materials that remain inert until activated by an external field. Unlike traditional fission fuels balanced at criticality, such systems would be subcritical by design and stop reacting when the driver is removed. Drawing on geometric and causal-set models of spacetime that link energy and stability to underlying coherence, the piece argues that true safety may lie not in controlling instability but in engineering fuels that cannot sustain it. Though the approach may ultimately consume more energy than it yields, it reframes nuclear safety around stability, control, and the geometry of coherence.
