Description
This document constitutes the formal declaration and technical specification of the Trace Commons Protocol, the verification substrate of the Trace Economy.
It details the architecture, governance, and ethical framework that allow any individual to timestamp ideas, insights, or rediscoveries as verifiable cognitive work.
Key contributions include:
- Commons Architecture – a minimal grammar of hashtags, @-handshake, and timestamp that converts any digital act of thought into a traceable record.
- Human @-Handshake – acknowledgment of PoCW license acceptance and routing of authorship to the canonical Unifaircation ledger.
- Economic Logic – residual royalty distribution to both originators and rediscoverers of knowledge, recognising verification and curation as productive labour.
- Governance Model – open, rotating stewardship with public versioning and DOI anchoring for every amendment.
- Ethical Imperative – human primacy, transparent attribution, and collective epistemic health.
Together these mechanisms create an immutable, interoperable record of intellectual lineage—one capable of scaling across disciplines, languages, and platforms.
The protocol establishes a living constitution for verified cognition: a system where to think is to trace, and to trace is to honour truth.
