Rapid diagnostic methods for Tuberculosis
Authors/Creators
Description
Tuberculosis (TB) is still a serious global health concern that requires prompt and precise diagnosis in order to be effectively controlled. Conventional techniques like culture and smear microscopy have drawbacks such slow turnaround times and poor sensitivity. The speed and precision of detection have been greatly increased by modern quick diagnostics, including as automated culture systems, antigen detection tests, and nucleic acid amplification tests (Xpert MTB/RIF, line probe assays). Drug resistance discovery is significantly improved by new technologies like next-generation sequencing and loop-mediated isothermal amplification. Notwithstanding their benefits, problems with infrastructure, expense, and extrapulmonary TB's low sensitivity still exist. It is crucial to incorporate these quick techniques into health systems in order to facilitate early detection, timely treatment, and a decrease in the spread of tuberculosis globally.
