Tracking country-level mitigation progress using NGHGI-consistent carbon budgets – scripts and data

This repository provides script and underlying data for the manuscript “Tracking country-level mitigation progress using NGHGI-consistent carbon budgets” (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-026-69078-9). It includes a dataset of national remaining carbon budgets (RCBs) consistent with national greenhouse gas inventories (NGHGIs) with global scope going back to 1990. RCBs are computed using multiple allocation approaches and include both absolute and per-capita values.

The results are based on data available in spring 2025 – with updated input data, certain results may change slightly.
