BSRLC-U: A tri-annual urban built-up types for the Baltic Sea Region at 10 m from 2000 to 2021

Description

Baltic Sea Region Land Cover Urban (BSRLC-U) is tri-annual land cover mapping (10 m) dataset in Europe from 2000 to 2021. The maps contain detailed information of urban built-up classes: 1) Residential buildings, 2) Industrial buildings, 3) Open spaces and 4) Non built-up. BSRLC-U is a complementary dataset to the existing Baltic Sea Region Land Cover Plus (BSRLC+) dataset, which contain detailed information of 18 land cover (LC) types, including 9 crop types and 2 peat bog types

Input data : Optical multi-temporal remote sensing imageries (Landsat 5 (TM) / 7 (ETM+) / 8 (OLI)  and Sentinel 2 (A / B ) from 1999 to 2022. Data is processed to surface reflectance and tiled into datacube structure using Framework for Operational Radiometric Correction for Environmental monitoring - FORCE.

This dataset contains:

  • 1_preview.png: Preview map (2021) 
  • BSRLCU_{year}.tif: Tri-annual (center year) map data (10 m) in GeoTIFF format (projection ETRS89 / EPSG:3035)
  • style.qml: Map style to be used in QGIS
  • validation_data.gpkg: Validation polygons (2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2021)

Built-up classes codes:

  • 1: Residential buildings
  • 2: Industrial, commercial buildings
  • 3: Open spaces, roads, railways
  • 4: Non-built-up
  • 127: Nodata
