Database of Projects and Initiatives Relevant to Ocean Science & Art Projects in Europe
Description
The purpose of the TIDAL ArtS database of Relevant Projects and Initiatives is for the consortium members to deepen connections with EU initiatives such as Mission Ocean, Culture Europe, and the New European Bauhaus activities. The mapping offers 155 projects (including active and finished projects organised in descending order) searched through the CORDIS database, Culture and Creativity as well as ERASMUS+, New European Bauhaus websites, and Google search engine. During the mapping process, a workshop session titled "Where Art Meets Science. For Our Ocean and Waters." was organized. On the 23rd of January 2025, 30 relevant initiatives (marked in green in the respective database sheet) joined the TIDAL ArtS team for a two-hour-long workshop. The session offered dialogue on questions regarding barriers and opportunities, negative and positive aspects when art+science+ocean is merged, and discussions on impact-related as well as participatory elements. This exchange allows us to gain insights into existing practices and thus ensure that TIDAL ArtS efforts are not duplicated. The database with the complementary workshop fosters synchronisation, alignment, and synergies between other initiatives and their activities. The deliverable serves as a building block for WP2–5 for further exchange.
