Observational Deferral Logic
Authors/Creators
Description
This paper introduces Observational Deferral Logic (ODL), a theoretical framework exploring the relationship between quantum information and thermodynamic entropy. The central thesis is that in a perfectly isolated quantum system, the actualization of information and entropy can be deferred until the moment of observation. Using a thought experiment with an ideal optical cavity, we illustrate how entropy may remain at S=0 for extended periods, only to manifest discontinuously upon measurement. This conceptual tool provides insight into the quantum-classical boundary, suggests parallels with the black hole information paradox—especially the “soft hair” hypothesis—and highlights the role of observation as an active process of realization. While physically unattainable, ODL serves as a useful limit case, clarifying the link between entropy growth and measurement, offering a novel ontological view of information, and providing a conceptual bridge between quantum information theory and gravitational physics.
