NASA's Neurodiversity Network Solar Science: High School Session 2 - The Sub
Authors/Creators
Description
Introduction
In the Solar Science curriculum you will be provided with five Sessions that are designed to be taught over the course of one month. In Session 2, “Engineering a Sunspotter,” your learners will do a hands-on activity that involves the construction of a device they will use to observe the Sun: a sunspotter! This will be used to safely observe the Sun over the course of a few weeks.
Teacher Guides
"RearMountingRing.v4" and "FrontMountingRingWithTarget.v5" are intended for use in a 3D printer to create the mounting rings for the Sunspotter.
"Sunspot Data" [Google Sheets] is a spreadsheet file to record information regarding sunspot observations through use of the Sunspotter.
Student Guides
The "Student Guide" [Google Drive PDF] documents are to be provided to the students for the activities in Session 2, and instruct them in how to assemble a sunspotter and use it for observing sunspots in this activity. The "Screen Reader" [Google Drive PDF] variant is intended to be accessible for students using screen readers as detailed in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
