Description

The Heliophysics Software Search Interface (HSSI) is a NASA-funded effort to increase the discoverability of Heliophysics software. This search interface reaches across programming languages to offer a single search service for all types of software in Heliophysics. The search capabilities offered by HSSI are supported by a small collection of controlled lists used to categorize the software indexed by the HSSI for improved search operation and flexibility. These controlled lists cover a variety of categories, including software functionality, programming languages, common licenses, input and output file formats, Heliophysics-specific data sources, common CPU architectures and operating systems. We report the current status of these lists, including changes made based on previous feedback from the Python in Heliophysics Community. We also seek feedback from the wider Heliophysics software community at DASH to improve these lists further. The lists are available at https://github.com/Heliophysics-Software-Search-Interface/HSSI-vocab.
