Description

Eleven participants with epilepsy were recruited for continuous monitoring, capturing heart rate and step count via wrist-worn devices and seizures via electroencephalography (average recording duration of 337 days). Wearable devices used for recording incliuded the Empatica E4 and the Fitbit Charge HR. EEG confirmation of seizures was accomplished using implanted clinical or research devices. The majority of patients had NeuroPace RNS devices, with patients screened carefully to ensure long episode records fully covered the interval between data uploads and contained some non-seizure recordings. Other participants were monitored for seizures using the investigational Medtronic Summit RC+S.
