Distribution: Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico (Baja California, Sonora), Nicaragua, United States.

New locality records: “ Mexico: Baja California, 5 km NW of Miraflores, 28.065, -113.263, 12-VIII-1980, Barr, W.F. col.” 8 specimens-UASM. “ Mexico: Baja California Sur, 24 km W of Ramal de los Naranjos, 23.242, -109.996, 28-VIII-1994, Turnbow, R.” 2 specimens-UASM.

Note. Bousquet (2012) reports a distribution of Selenophorus famulus Casey, 1914 in Baja California without mentioning the location. Messer and Raber (2021) propose S. famulus as a minor synonymy of S. aequinoctialis.
