Catalyzing Responsible Assessment for Open Science

  • 1. San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)

Description

This publications introduces the poster and DORA's Practical Guide to Implementing Responsible Research Assessment at RPOs (2025) and its connection to the GraspOS conference theme.  It describes how the poster, derived from the Guide, provides actionable strategies for aligning research assessment with Open Science (OS) principles. It offers practical approaches to recognize diverse contributions, ensure transparency, and foster inclusive, community-driven evaluation practices in line with global RRA initiatives that advance OS.

The DORA's Practical Guide for Research Performing Organizations has been created as part of Project TARA and, alongside Reformscape, the Building Blocks for Impact, and the Debiasing Committee Composition, forms a suite of tools designed to help organizations who are seeking to reform research assessment practices. Project TARA was supported by Arcadia. Arcadia helps people to record cultural heritage, to conserve and restore nature, and to promote open access to knowledge. Since 2002 Arcadia has awarded more than $1.2 billion to organizations around the world.
