Description
Anadiasa punctifascia (Walker, 1855d)
COMMON NAME(S): Chestnut Eggarlet.
SYNONYM(S): Nyssia sobria Walker, 1865b.
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE)
DISTRIBUTION: Djibouti, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Acacia mollissima Willd., A. caffra (Thunb.) Willd. and Vachellia karroo (Hayne) Banfi & Galasso from the plant family Fabaceae are host plants of the taxon in South Africa. The Fabaceae species namely, Acacia mollissima, is the host plant of the taxon in Tanzania, while a Peltophorum sp. (Fabaceae) is a host plant of the taxon in an unnamed place elsewhere in Africa. No host plant has yet been reported for the taxon in Zambia. The African Moths (2019) webpage, on the other hand, list the following as larval foodplants of the taxon: Four Fabaceae species, A. caffra (Thunb.) Willd., A. karroo Hayne, Acacia mearnsii De Wild. and Peltophorum africanum Sond. and one Proteaceae species namely, Grevillea robusta A.Cunn. ex R.Br.
