Pathology as Spectacle: The Case of the Roca Museum
Description
In Barcelona’s fifth district, Francesc Roca opened a popular anatomical museum in the 1920s. Although the museum itself has been forgotten, its collections are now preserved in Antwerp. This paper tries delve into the ways the museum brought new and old media together and how Roca was able to reinvigorate medicine as spectacle before twentieth-century audiences.
