Spatial Dataset for Multi-Source Renewable Energy Potential Assessment in the Makran Region, Iran

Description

This dataset provides spatial maps of criteria and model outputs used to evaluate and identify potential sites for developing solar, wind, and geothermal renewable energy power plants in the Makran region, southeastern Iran. The data were generated as part of the study titled “A Scenario-Based Framework for Spatial Assessment of Multi-Source Renewable Energy Parks: A case study of Makran region in Iran.”

The dataset includes spatial criteria maps (such as production capacity, cost, infrastructure, demand, and environmental impact) and spatial constraint maps that were used in a multi-criteria decision-making analysis employing the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) method. The OWA model was applied to simulate a wide range of decision-making scenarios, from highly pessimistic to highly optimistic.

The results identify areas with high renewable energy development potential under different scenarios and combine these outcomes to produce a spatial agreement map highlighting zones with overlapping suitability for solar, wind, and geothermal energy development. These data provide a valuable resource for spatial planning and strategic decision-making in sustainable energy development.

The dataset includes:

-Spatial criteria maps for solar, wind, and geothermal energy

-Spatial constraint maps

-OWA model outputs for different decision-making scenarios

-Final spatial agreement map of high-potential zones
