Abstract. – The diversity of hairy fungus beetles of the subgenus Litargosomus Motschulsky, 1858 under the genus Litargus Erichson, 1846 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionoidea: Mycetophagidae) of India has been studied and a new species Litargus (Litargosomus) arjanbasui Háva & Chakrovorty sp. nov. is described, illustrated and compared with similar species. A key to India Litargus (Litargosomus) species has been provided.

Résumé. –  La diversité des coléoptères du genre Litargus Erichson, 1846, sous-genre Litargosomus Motschulsky, 1858 (Coleoptera : Tenebrionoidea : Mycetophagidae) d'Inde a été étudiée et une nouvelle espèce Litargus (Litargosomus) arjanbasui Háva & Chakrovorty sp. nov. est décrite, illustrée et comparée à des espèces proches. Une clé des espèces indiennes de Litargus (Litargosomus) est proposée.
