Description

This is a digitized archival copy of the original article:

Kosuge, S. & Fernandes, F. (1989). Description of two new species of the genera Ocinebrina and Coralliophila from São Tomé Island, West Africa, with some discussion on Purpura giton (Gastropoda: Muricidae and Coralliophilidae). Bulletin of the Institute of Malacology, Tokyo, 2(8): 132–136, pl. 50.

This publication describes Coralliophila raramaculata sp. nov. from São Tomé Island and provides detailed shell morphology, type locality (Emilia Beach, 1 m depth, coral-associated), and comparative taxonomic remarks. It is an essential reference for the Coralliophilinae of the eastern Atlantic.

Due to its rarity and lack of public availability, this scan is preserved by the Institute for Molluscan Systematics (IMS), Tenerife as part of its archival program for historical malacological literature. Access is restricted for scholarly use only.

Notes (English)

We are grateful to Lindsey T. Groves (Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County) for kindly providing the scans of the original Bulletin of the Institute of Malacology, Tokyo article. These materials were essential for verifying the original description, type locality, and bathymetric data of Coralliophila raramaculata Kosuge & Fernandes, 1989.
