Mohamad delivered an online presentation titled “Introduction to DataCite: Making Your Research Data FAIR and Exploring DataCite Use Cases in Africa” during the APHRC Data Governance Training, hosted by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) on 7 October 2025.
The session focused on key topics in research data management, including the role of DOIs, persistent identifiers (PIDs), and open metadata in improving the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR) of research data. Mohamad highlighted DataCite’s global infrastructure and shared practical examples of how African institutions are leveraging PIDs and open metadata to enhance research visibility, foster collaboration, and advance open science across Africa.
