Sustainable Development And Libraries: Case Studies Related With Practical Librarianship In The Law Field
Description
This paper presents an in-depth analysis of sustainable development initiatives within law libraries, with particular emphasis on the Indian context. Using a narrative textual case study methodology, it evaluates how law libraries integrate environmental, economic, and social sustainability principles into their operations. The study highlights case examples of digital resource management, eco-friendly infrastructure, open access initiatives, and community engagement programs. Findings reveal that sustainable law librarianship not only enhances efficiency and accessibility but also contributes to broader societal objectives such as access to justice, legal empowerment, and the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The paper concludes that law libraries are evolving from traditional repositories into dynamic centres of sustainable knowledge management, thereby reinforcing their critical role in legal education and research.
