Commerce Feeds vs AI Visibility: The Governance Gap in Agentic Shopping

Description

This white paper examines OpenAI’s Commerce Feed specification and its impact on e-commerce visibility in large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT. While feeds enable merchants to push structured product catalogs into AI assistants, compliance does not guarantee sustained presence or protection against substitution.

Empirical audits under the AIVO Standard™ show that brands with validated feeds can lose 30–60% prompt-space visibility within 30 days, with competitors capturing abandoned slots. This volatility creates governance risk: boards relying on feed health alone may issue materially incomplete disclosures in financial and risk reporting.

The paper introduces updates to the Prompt-Space Occupancy Score (PSOS™), including feed-backed checks, recency overlays, and closed-loop remediation verification. These innovations position PSOS as an audit-grade KPI for boards, CMOs, and digital commerce operators.
