Description

This repository contains code for performing the experiments and processing the model output data for the publication "A Fully Implicit Second Order Method for Viscous Free Surface Stokes Flow - Application to Glacier Simulations" by Josefin Ahlkrona, André Löfgren and A. Clara J. Henry.

The simulations were performed in Biceps as well as Elmer/Ice. Biceps is a prognostic two-dimensional full-Stokes ice-sheet solver written by André Löfgren and can be accesed at https://github.com/andrelofgrenSU/biceps, accessed: 2025-
04-23, 2025. For the purpose of the simulations of the publication "A Fully Implicit Second Order Method for Viscous Free Surface Stokes Flow - Application to Glacier Simulations" by Josefin Ahlkrona, André Löfgren and A. Clara J. Henry, two cpp-files were edited and can be found in this respository. Use biceps_demo.cpp to run the experiments. 

Elmer/Ice is a finite element software under open source licensing. Elmer was first licensed under GPL (GNU General Public License, v. 2.1) license in 2008. Since 2012 the ElmerSolver library has been published under LGPL license (GNU Lesser General Public License, v. 2.0). The Elmer revision used in this study can be found at https://zenodo.org/records/7892181. The extra files needed to perform the simulations in "A Fully Implicit Second Order Method for Viscous Free Surface Stokes Flow - Application to Glacier Simulations" by Josefin Ahlkrona, André Löfgren and A. Clara J. Henry are included in this repository (all files here except for the cpp-files). A finite element mesh can be constructed from the.dat files, and the experiments can be performed by running Forward.sif.
