Description
This record contains observations and simulations of trifluoroacetate (TFA) concentrations in Swiss precipitation and surface waters as presented by Henne et al., (2025). All relevant description of observational methods, sampling strategies and simulation details can be found there.

- Type, type of sample location and media, possible values: precipitation, Surface water Lake, Surface water River
- PointOfMeasurement_ID, site identifier, given as character
- PointOfMeasurement_Name, site full name, given as character
- Coord_X, site location x position in Swiss LV95 coordinates
- Coord_Y, site location y position in Swiss LV95 coordinates
- Sampling Type, type of sample collection, possible values: Total sample, Grab sample, Total sample - flow proportional, Total sample - time proportional
- Compound, analysed compound, possible values: TFA, reported as as trifluoroacetic acid (protonated, molar mass 114 g/mol).
- Value, concentration of analysed compound, given as float
- Units, concentration units, possible vlaues: ug/l
- TFA measurement technique was described by Scheurer et al. (2017)
- FLEXPART_simulations_at_sites_daily.nc: Simulated time series of HFO-1234yf and degradation products at selected sites
- Format: netcdf 4
- Model variables
- HFO_1234yf: atmospheric mole fractions
- TFA_WD: TFA deposited through wet deposition
- TFA_DD: TFA deposited through dry deposition
- TFA_rain: TFA concentration in rainwater
- FLEXPART_simulations_monthly.nc: Simulated HFO-1234yf mole fraction and deposition of degradation products
- Format: netcdf 4
- Model variables
- HFO_1234yf: atmospheric mole fractions
- TFA_WD: TFA deposited through wet deposition
- TFA_DD: TFA deposited through dry deposition
- TFA_rain: TFA concentration in rainwater
- TFA_deposition_from_longLived_compounds.nc: Simulated monthly TFA deposition rates from degradation of long-lived HCFC/HFCs
- Format: netcdf 4
- Model variables (compound <cmp> stands for each treated HCFC/HFC and 'Total' for the sum over all compounds):
- <cmp>_min: TFA deposition rate given minimal TFA yields (northern hemisphere average)
- <cmp>_max: TFA deposition rate given maximal TFA yields (northern hemisphere average)
- <cmp>_mean: TFA deposition rate given mean TFA yields (northern hemisphere average)
