Introduction

The composition Dimeh derives its title from an archaic Persian word meaning a gentle, continuous rain falling quietly without storm or thunder. This image shapes the sonic and structural identity of the piece. While the quartet does not quote folk melodies directly, the concept of rain carries profound cultural resonance in Persian folklore, where many regional songs and rituals (such as rain-invoking chants and ceremonial songs) are dedicated to the theme of rainfall and fertility. Thus, the work establishes an indirect dialogue between contemporary sound exploration and traditional poetic imagery.
