Description
Combined Velocity field derived from GNSS permanent stations (RING, FredNet, public and private agencies) and discontinuous (IGM95) stations distributed across northern Italy. The Velocity field is derived by combining three distinct velocity fields estimated using different software (Bernese and GAMIT/GLOBK): the two permanent GNSS solutions from INGV (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.17107303) and OGS (Tunini et al., 2024), and the third obtained from specific vertices belonging to the IGM95 network (Carnemolla et al., 2024). The combination procedure follows the method outlined in Devoti et al. (2017), employing a linear least-squares approach.
Velocities expressed in the not-net-rotation ITRF14 reference frame are given in SINEX format (https://www.iers.org/IERS/EN/Organization/AnalysisCoordinator/SinexFormat/sinex.html), whereas velocity residuals with respect to Eurasia plate are given as a tabular text file.
This dataset is product of the PRIN 2020 NASA4SHA Project (Fault segmentation and seismotectonics of active thrust systems: the Northern Apennines and Southern Alps laboratories for New Seismic Hazard Assessment in northern Italy) (https://www.unife.it/it/ricerca/progetti/naz_internaz/physics-and-earth-sciences/nazionali/nasa4sha).
