Global multi-crop agricultural trial data supported by citizen science
This release includes a pre-publication dataset compiled from more than a decade of global participatory variety testing using the tricot approach (triadic comparison of technologies). The dataset has been compiled, curated, and structured for reuse, with full support for FAIR data principles.
What's included
- Plot-level data: Rankings, measured traits, and trial performance
- Block-level data: Socio-demographic and management information
- Genotype metadata: Final standardized names and additional descriptors
- Trial metadata: Descriptions, bounding boxes, program/funder affiliations, and methodological information
- Author and contributor metadata: Including ORCID and institutional affiliations
Methodology
The dataset follows the triadic comparison of technologies (tricot) methodology, a citizen science approach where farmers test and compare three randomly assigned varieties under real-world conditions.
