"The Scholarly Status of Women Hadith Scholars in the Abbasid Era"
Authors/Creators
Description
The Abbasid era is regarded as the golden age of scholarship and the development of Hadith sciences. During this period, female Hadith scholars also played a prominent role. They contributed through narration, teaching, and the establishment of scholarly circles. Renowned figures such as Zaynab bint al-Kamal and Umm Muhammad bint Abd al-Hadi attracted leading male scholars to their study circles. Their scholarly authority is evident from the fact that their chains of transmission (isnad) were considered reliable and trustworthy. The contributions of female Hadith scholars in the Abbasid era demonstrate that women held a central role in the promotion and dissemination of Hadith.
