Voynich Manuscript Research. Chapter 3: Astrology and Medical Calendars

This is the third installment of our research on the Voynich Manuscript.

While the first part focused on the structure of the manuscript and the second on the botanical code, this chapter explores the astrological section.

We argue that the circular diagrams are not abstract ornaments, but encoded medical calendars. The zodiacal division is linked to the human body (homo signorum) and to cycles of health, particularly female physiology. The women depicted in the diagrams are not decorative but symbolic representations of organs and bodily functions.

Combined with the plants illustrated in adjacent sections, this reveals a coherent system:

Calendars (astrology) = timing of treatment and collection of herbs.

Figures (women) = symbolic body map.

Plants = medicines.

Thus, the Voynich Manuscript is interpreted as an integrated medical-astrological encyclopedia of the 15th century.
