Microlestes luctuosus chobauti Jeannel
Material examined: DG: Castanheira Centro, 19.IV.2012, 1 male, 1 female, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC; Eira, 27.IV.2011, 1 female, DS, A. Serrano et al. leg., ASC.
Remarks: This is a polytypic species. The nominal subspecies presents a wide distribution throughout the European Mediterranean Basin, reaching the Minor Asia region and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tadzhikistan (Lorenz 2021). Microlestes luctuosus chobauti is native to France, some North African countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) and the Macaronesian archipelagos of Madeira and Canaries. It was found beneath the stones and tufts of herbaceous vegetation, together with Bembidion tethys.
