The discontinuity capacitance and the effective position of a shielded open circuit in a coaxial line

The method described by Whinnery, Jamieson, and Robbins in 1944 for the calculation of the coaxial line discontinuity capacitance has been applied to the coaxial open circuit, treated as a special case of a coaxial line with a stepped inner conductor.
