Better Use of Research Data through Better Context

This presentation, given at CoRDI 2025, is about the complexity of cultural heritage datasets and the absolute necessity of better contextual data to enable responsible reuse. The 'Accessing Context' project, which tests out better contextual data in practice, is introduced. Observations from the project are presented: namely the enthusiasm of data providers and users for better context, and the challenges experienced in creating and using such context. The presentation concludes with a summary of the contributions that better context makes towards reuse of datasets.
