EM-Glossary Web Explorer (version 2.1.0)

EM-Glossary Web Explorer v2.1.0 improves browsing and metadata management by introducing dynamic term hierarchies, a “Recently Added Terms” bar, ORCID-based contributor metadata, and enhanced sorting and pagination. The release also migrates the data source to OWL artifacts for reliability and adds several UX improvements and bug fixes.

📌 Purpose

Terminology in electron microscopy has developed informally and inconsistently. The EM Glossary harmonizes these terms to enable interoperable collaboration between humans, devices, and software agents.

🚀 New Features

• Added "Recently Added Terms" bar on Explore and Home pages.
• Implemented breadcrumb navigation (term hierarchy) on Term pages.
• Display OWL artifact version info on:
  • Terms overview page
  • Term detail page
  • Citations
  • About page
• ORCID API integration for contributor metadata.
• Added sorting options on Explore page.

✅ Improvements

• Enhanced pagination behavior on Explore pages.
• Redesigned layout for "Recently Added/Updated Terms" and "Word of the Week" sections.
• Backend:
  • Improved population script for OWL artifact integration.
  • Added logging and ORCID lookup improvements.
  • Removed YAML population script and migrated to OWL as ground truth.

🐛 Bug Fixes

• Fixed hardcoded year in term citations.
• Fixed hierarchy tree API bugs and improved breadcrumb trail rendering.
• Corrected z-index and HR issues on updated/new words sections.
• Fixed pipeline and deployment issues.

🔧 Technical Changes

• Added release metadata retrieval from GitLab during population.
• Introduced support for OWL-based changelogs in backend scripts.
