Seasonal cloud cover frequency over land in the period 2000-2022

Description

Package of maps describing the seasonally cumulated cloud coverage frequency calculated over land from MODIS-Terra Collection 6.1 data (using MOD10A1 Level 3 product) for the temporal period 2000 - 2022. The dataset is organized into four folders, each corresponding to a season: winter (cumulative data from the months of December, January, February), spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August) and autumn (September, October, November). Each raster file (.tif) is referenced in the WGS84 datum and has information only in specific MODIS sinusoidal grid tiles, typically including at least one major urban center (population greater than 1 million inhabitants). The spatial resolution is, approximately, of 500 m. Alongside each .tif map, three auxiliary data files are provided: .tfw for georeferentiation; .ovr for pyramids; .xml for main statistics.

This dataset is intended as a complement to the previously published repository of global cloud cover frequency maps, where data are cumulated annually (available at: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14614079).
