BASIONYM: Andropogon eremicum Wipff & Shaw, Phytoneuron 2018 -73:2. 2018.
TYPE: U.S.A. NEW MEXICO. Grant Co.: Mimbres Hot Springs, grass around the hot springs, 2 Nov 1851, C.Wright 2100 (HOLOTYPE: GH-image!; ISOTYPES: GH-image!, MO, NY, UC).
New name at species rank for Andropogon glomeratus (Walter) B. S. P. var. scabriglumis C.S. Campb.,Syst. Bot. 11:291.1986.
See Wipff and Shaw (2018) and Campbell (1983, 1986) for rationale and discussion of the recognition of this taxon. Out of convenience, we here make the needed combination in Anatherum for this southwestern North American taxon.
