FRAILTY SYNDROME IN MORELIAN PATIENTS OVER 65 YEARS OLD

Description

Objective: To identify frailty syndrome in Morelia patients aged 65 years and older.

Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in the gerontology service. The sample was calculated using a finite population formula, with a magnitude of error of 0.10. A total of 268 adult patients over 65 years of age were included from 2023 to 2024. Socio-demographic and clinical variables were collected. A survey was administered after informed consent using the BARBER instrument for frailty syndrome in older adults.

Conclusions: The results indicate that those over 80 years of age presented greater frailty, but lower report of specific needs, which could reflect some resilience in this group. Malnutrition was more present in the older group as well as the need for assistance in physical activities.
