Description

This Working White Paper puts forward a series of recommendations for the responsible use of AI in research. To support the creation of responsible AI-driven scholarship, we present the REINFORCE framework comprising nine key principles. The REINFORCE (Robust, Equity, Integrity, Nurture, Foresight, Openness, Responsiveness, Collaboration, Ecological Footprint) framework for responsible AI in business and management research does not simply prescribe a static checklist; rather, it is designed to dynamically support and enhance ethical practice throughout all phases of the research lifecycle.  Their effective implementation will require sustained commitment from all stakeholders - researchers, institutions, decision-makers, policymakers, and those responsible for developing and maintaining supporting infrastructure. It also warrants collective effort to broaden the knowledge base and foster a shared sense of responsibility at every level. While some of these recommendations may, at present, appear challenging, particularly as these are not yet on the immediate radar of scholars or institutions, the intent of the White Paper is both forward-looking and anticipatory. Its purpose is to prepare the research ecosystem for the opportunities and risks that lie ahead by forecasting emerging needs and proposing proactive strategies to address them.
