Description
**Abstract (EN)**
The essay examines the photography of Gianni Berengo Gardin through the concept of a *relational gaze*, understood as the interplay between personal sensitivity, technical method, and external conditions of recognition. From an analysis of the historical context and contemporary changes in image circulation, the work moves to a biographical and professional profile, highlighting the consistency of a sober, black-and-white visual language attentive to the relationship between people and spaces. The core section explores compositional principles — counterpoint, use of architectural grids, depth planes, reflections, and irony — supported by photographic examples. The essay concludes with a phase-based mapping of major projects, with bibliographic references and notes on image rights for preprint publication. (The dates “1954–2025” in the title refer to the period of activity considered, not to the date of birth)
