Intellectual property law has made significant progress in Turkey during the process of the Customs Union with the EU and the accession negotiations. The growing practical importance of this branch of law has further increased interest in it. The present work addresses, under the heading of intellectual property law, the law of literary and artistic works, trademarks, industrial designs, patents and utility models, as well as geographical indications.

This study, which is expected to be useful not only for undergraduate and graduate students but also for practitioners, is based on the author’s lecture notes from courses delivered at various universities at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Over time, with the addition of new topics and headings, these lecture notes have evolved into a comprehensive reference book. Rather than being purely theoretical, the book has taken shape as a work with a strong practical orientation—closely intertwined with legal practice—drawing upon legal opinions and expert reports prepared in this field over many years, and enriched by issues and legal analyses that, as valued colleagues and aspiring young jurists will acknowledge, are firmly rooted in real-world application.

In order to strengthen the connection of the work with practice, every effort has been made to include recent judicial decisions. Furthermore, visual elements have been incorporated to enhance clarity and facilitate the reader’s understanding of the topics.
