Description
The data are part of the multifunctional bondline project, which investigates the feasibility of implementing Multifunctional Disbond Arrest Features (MDAFs) for securing structural bonds without weight penalties. The main purpose of the investigations is understanding the feasibility of embedding strain sensors directly into the bondline and combining them with disbond arrest features (DAF).
This dataset is one complete Cracked Lap Shear (CLS) crack-growth measurement in a series of measurements in the multifunctional bondline project. The MDAF in this dataset’s specimen consists of three Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors and Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) surface toughening elements. For the evaluation, the crack growth is related to the strain FBG sensor outputs.
This is one of three specimens with FBG-based MDAF tested under tensile–tensile cyclic loading up to the limit-load level. To keep each data repository at a manageable size, the measurements are published separately, and only three full-size (original) images are included—while all other images are made available in cropped form.
