Description

Egypt’s First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) under the Paris Agreement represents a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to transparent, data-driven climate governance. Covering the period from 1990 to 2022, the report presents Egypt’s national greenhouse gas inventory, progress in implementing its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), adaptation efforts, and details on financial, technological, and capacity-building support needed and received. It highlights key achievements in emissions reduction, particularly in the energy, oil and gas, and transport sectors, while identifying institutional and resource-based challenges. BTR1 underscores Egypt’s efforts to integrate climate action across national policies and sectors, ensuring inclusive and resilient pathways toward sustainable development.
