Why Young People Like Me Need to Lead Diplomacy in the Age of AI
Description
This article reflects on the urgent need for young people to take leadership roles in global diplomacy amid accelerating technological and geopolitical challenges. It examines current diplomatic limitations, especially in the context of the United Nations Security Council, and proposes how artificial intelligence—specifically large language models—can support more inclusive, transparent, and dynamic approaches to conflict resolution. The author introduces the concept of a Youth Diplomacy Lab powered by AI simulations to give voice to youth perspectives and foster innovative negotiation strategies. This work calls for collaboration among young leaders, diplomats, and institutions to pilot, ethically audit, and train in AI-supported diplomacy. The goal is to expand what is possible in global peacebuilding for a rapidly changing world
