Description

Eurypogon jaechi Kundrata, Bocakova & Bocak, 2013

Chinese common name: ṞƂāäDz

Material examined. 2♂♂ (MYNU24070011; 12), CHINA, Sichuan: Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Daocheng Yading Scenic Area, Chonggu Temple [冲ëŵ], 4000 m, 23.VII.2024, Tian-Long He [Ñ天±] & Chuan Wang [Ɨm] leg.

Measurements. (MYNU24070011; 12). Body (4.2; 4.8) mm in length (excl. exposed or retracted head), widest at (middle; posterior ⅖) of elytra, (2.5; 2.5) times as long as wide. Length of different body parts (mm): antenna (3.1; 3.6), pronotum (0.8; 1.0), elytra (3.5; 3.9); width: head (0.9; 1.0), eye (0.4; 0.4), pronotum (1.2; 1.4), elytra (1.7; 1.9). Interocular distance (1.6; 1.7) times as wide as eye; antenna about (0.9; 0.9) times as long as elytral length; pronotum (1.5; 1.4) times as wide as long; elytra (2.0; 2.0) times as long as wide.

Distribution. China (Sichuan new provincial record, Yunnan) (Fig. 4).

Remarks. Non-type localities in Yunnan Province were determined based on the examined specimens in Yoshitomi (2018). These specimens were collected by Yu-Tang Wang [ƗṪ堂], who currently resides at Mianyang Normal College. We have consulted with him to verify the collecting data for this species.

Previous collection records for this species lack altitude data, and our specimens now represent the highest documented occurrence of artematopodids in the Old World to date.
