NFDI4Energy Use Case M6.1 Description

This deliverable showcases a new co-simulation use case created according to the NFDI4Energy
Task Area 6 requirements. We started with an analysis of existing scenarios in the KIT Energy
Lab. None met all of our requirements, therefore, we designed a new use case to support more
complex simulation scenarios based on the existing software and hardware resources at the Energy
Lab. The new use case integrates a Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) target, a building model,
and a Power-Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHiL) system. We will connect the different components with
VILLASnode. In this deliverable, we describe the new co-simulation use case from three different
layers: the Energy Research Layer, the Research Enhancement Layer, and the Meta Research Layer
that demonstrates the specific role of Research Data Management (RDM) tools and services in
co-simulation and energy research domain.
