Diagnosis

Wingspan 29.7–32.1 mm. Fore-wing length 14.8–15.3 mm (n = 5). Labial palpus short, medially widened, acuminate in the third segment. Fore-wing ground light brown. Cell divided into two halves by an uninterrupted darkish-brown line, the upper half brownish scaled, the inferior half white scaled. Ductus bursae in the female genitalia with the anterior half widened and sclerotised, posterior half tapered, membranous, slightly dilated near the distal end. Length of the colliculum relative to the antrum 60 % (n = 5). Antrum with a plate-shaped sclerotisation medially. Uncus in the male genitalia elongate, apex pointed. Tuba analis strongly exceeding the uncus, subscaphium present. Vesica with an elongate, slender cornutus (Popescu-Gorj and Constantinescu (1973), Figs 1 c, 6 a, b).

Distribution

Palaearctic – Southern Europe, Northern Africa. Afrotropical – Angola, Botswana, Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Western Sahara, Zambia, Zimbabwe. For the Arabian Peninsula, the species has been recorded from Yemen (Popescu-Gorj and Constantinescu 1973). New to Saudi Arabia.
