Description:
This dataset contains spatial and tabular data on bus routes and bus stops across major cities in the Republic of Cyprus, including Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Pafos, Ammochostos, as well as data for the Pame Express rapid transit system in Nicosia and the Intercity Buses network.

The dataset is structured as follows:

  • A GeoPackage containing separate line and point layers for each city and network:

    • Line layers represent bus routes.

    • Point layers represent bus stops.

  • For each city/network, two accompanying CSV files are included:

    • One file listing all trips.

    • One file providing the timetables associated with each trip.

The dataset is based on the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) files made available through the Cyprus Open Data Portal:

Data Preparation:
The original GTFS data were provided in TXT format. Using a GIS environment, geometries were reconstructed based on coordinate information and organized into city-specific layers and files. The data were curated and processed by the SURF Lab.

  • Geographical extent: Republic of Cyprus

  • Coordinate Reference System: CGRS93 (EPSG: 6312)

Use Cases:
The dataset can be used for public transport planning, accessibility analysis, multimodal network modeling, and visualization of bus transit systems in Cyprus.
