Monocular delay during visually-guided actions is as effective as monocular deprivation in driving ocular dominance plasticity

Description

We quantified two main binocular rivalry parameters - dominance proportions (percentage of dominance time spent seeing through one eye) and mean phase duration (mean periods of time where either eye dominated perception). These parameters are separately reported in two .csv files, ‘Steinwurzel2025_dominanceprop.csv’ for dominance proportions and ‘Steinwurzel2025_phasedurations.csv’ for mean phase durations. In addition, the file ‘Steinwurzel2025_mixedprop.csv’ reports the percentage of mixed percepts.
We acquired binocular rivalry data before "pre" and after "post" each one-hour manipulation: A = monocular delay during visually-guided goal-directed actions, P = monocular delay during passive viewing, M = monocular deprivation, reported as separate columns (rows are participants).

The ‘Steinwurzel2025_dominanceprop.csv’ file reports ocular dominance for each time-point and condition, calculated as:
OD = 100* (Time DE / (Time DE + Time NDE))
where DE stands for Dominant Eye and NDE stands for Non-dominant Eye. The files includes a plasticity index DeltaOD% = postOD% - preOD%

The ‘Steinwurzel2025_phasedurations.csv file’ reports mean phase durations for each eye, time and condition separately, in seconds (values were log10 transformed for statistical analyses).

The ‘Steinwurzel2025_mixedprop.csv file’ reports the percentage of total testing time during which participants reported incomplete dominance, pre and post- manipulations and in all conditions.
