Description

BARCODE HOUSING SYSTEM is a computer aided design and building system for housing blocks built with industrialized processes.  It was developed by the research group ARC Enineering and Architecture La Salle in the period 2002-2005. It consists of an interactive application to create housing units, blocks and facades, and a web-based environment to visualize blocks in three dimensions on Internet.

This prototype system was the starting point of a research project financed by the Spanish National Research Plan (2005-2008). The follow-up system (see https://zenodo.org/records/16368717) expand the generative engine, graphic interfaces which enabled dwellers to describe their needs, clustering techniques to match housing units to the dwellers' requirements,  and a building component catalogue to customize the housing units.
