Final report on framework on guidance protocols
Authors/Creators
Description
The MYRIAD-EU project responds to the growing need for comprehensive frameworks to assess
and manage risks arising from multi-hazard and multi-sectoral interactions. While multi-hazard
events account for a minority of disaster records, they are responsible for a disproportionate share
of global economic losses, highlighting the limitations of traditional single-hazard approaches. To
address this, MYRIAD-EU developed and tested a flexible, integrative framework for multi-hazard,
multi-risk, and systemic risk management across five diverse European pilot regions. This report
presents the final version of the MYRIAD-EU framework and accompanying guidance protocols,
refined through four years of implementation and iterative feedback. Drawing on document
reviews, survey responses, and focus group discussions with pilots, the report synthesizes key
lessons from operationalizing the framework and outlines updates that enhance its usability and
applicability. The deliverable serves as a practical resource for stakeholders seeking to integrate
multi-hazard risk considerations into disaster risk reduction planning and decision-making.
