MODE: A Customizable Open-Source Testing Framework for IoT Systems and Methodologies
Authors/Creators
Description
With the growing integration of software and hardware, IoT security solutions must become more efficient to maintain user trust, boost enterprise revenue, and support developers. While fuzzing is a common testing method, few solutions exist for fuzzing an entire IoT application stack. The absence of an open-source application set limits accurate methodology comparisons. This paper addresses these gaps by providing an open-source application set with real and artificially injected issues and proposing a framework for guided fuzzing. The solutions are language-agnostic and compatible with various hardware. Finally, we evaluate these methods to assess their impact on vulnerability discovery.
